Öhlins: Rebound adjustment

In this manual, we will show you how to adjust the rebound, also called the relaxation of your Öhlins shock absorbers.

Find all the Öhlins motorcycle shock absorbers HERE Or type your motorcycle model in the search bar.

Depreciation in relaxation, also known as the rebound adjustment, on a motorcycle shock absorber, is of crucial importance for several reasons:

  1. Return control of the wheel: The rebound adjustment influences the speed at which the rear wheel goes up after being compressed. An adequate adjustment ensures controlled return of the wheel to its normal position, thus improving the stability of the motorcycle.

  2. Stability in turn: A well -adjusted rebound helps maintain the stability of the motorcycle during turns. It allows the rear wheel to quickly find its position, thus avoiding excessive rebounds which could compromise adhesion and maneuverability.

  3. Driving comfort: An appropriate rebound adjustment plays an essential role in driving comfort. Too much rebound can make the driving jumper, while insufficient adjustment can cause a feeling of floating. Optimal balance offers smooth and comfortable driving.

  4. Adaptation to road conditions: By adjusting the rebound, bikers can adapt the suspension of their motorcycle to the different conditions of the road. For example, on damaged roads, a firmer setting can be beneficial to avoid uncontrolled rebounds.

  5. Performance optimization: Experienced pilots often use the rebound adjustment to optimize the performance of their motorcycle as a function of their specific driving style. This may include adjustments for situations such as fast turns, sudden braking, or intense accelerations.

In summary, the rebound adjustment to a motorcycle shock absorber is essential to ensure stable, comfortable and secure driving. It offers bikers the possibility of personalizing the suspension of their motorcycle according to their individual preferences and specific driving conditions.
