Royal Enfield's electric future: the parent company invests 50 million euros in a Spanish electric vehicle company

Eicher Motors LTD, the parent company of Royal Enfield, intensifies its electrification plans by investing 50 million euros in the Spanish company Stark Future SL. The fund will be used to support the research and development of future electric models, as well as for technology sharing, granting technical licenses and production.

Siddhartha Lal, CEO of Eicher Motors, said: "Stark Future understood the potential of EV technology by considerably exceeding ICE offers without compromising autonomy, weight, packaging and cost."

Anton Wass, founder and CEO of Stark Future, said: "We think we have a launch model in the Stark Varg which will reset standards. And know that motorcycle technology will be spread in other products is a source of pride for us."

Royal Enfield, according to a press release, has "several ideas during the test" for electrification. This corresponds to reports in India of a concept called Electrik01, with beam forks and a classic design.

The CEO of Royal Enfield, B. Govindarajan, added: "We will support Stark in the industrialization process and rely on their capacities to develop our EV platforms. We also plan to share certain platforms at the future."

Royal Enfield is a brand of motorcycles founded in 1893 in England. Initially, the brand produced motorcycles for the British army during the First World War and the Second World War. After the war, Royal Enfield began to produce motorcycles for the civilian market, with popular models such as the bullet, the Crusader and the Interceptor. However, in 1967, production in England was arrested due to growing competition from foreign brands.

In 1984, the production of Royal Enfield motorcycles was taken over by the Indian company Eicher Motors Limited, which began to manufacture models similar to those produced in England. Over the years, Royal Enfield in India has grown up to become one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in India, with a strong accent on large displacement models.

Today, Royal Enfield is considered one of the most emblematic motorcycle marks in India, with a strong presence in the country and rapid growth in international markets. The brand is known for its simple large displacement models, its classic style and its strong brand image.
